Diamond is categorized as a native mineral which occurs naturally in the earth under specific conditions. The crystalline structure of diamond was built and simulated in a standard, extensive carbon atom arrangement. The bond length is set to 0.77 A and the hybridization is set to sp3 as each carbon atom is covalently bonded to 4 other carbon atoms. In turn, this forms a tetrehedral structure where each atom is surrounded by 4 equidisant neighbouring atoms.
