Eroded Diamond

Uploaded: April 24, 2024

SAMSON version: 5.0.6

A test to investigate the flexibility of a diamond structure.

The structure was created from a diamond crystal that was sculpted. Then hydrogens were added, then the embedded erosion script was applied.

To adjust hydrogen positions, the structure was then minimized while freezing carbon positions. This resulted in the Conformation 1 node (double click to restore). Then, the whole structure was minimized using the UFF force field and the FIRE minimizer, resulting in Conformation 2.

Interesting patterns are visible in the hydrogens.
